Ondo State Government has promoted 4,001 teaching and non-teaching staff in its public secondary schools.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko presented
letters of promotion to the beneficiaries at an interactive session with
principals of public secondary schools in the state in Akure.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Aderotimi Adelola, represented Mimiko on the occasion.
Mimiko said the initiative was in
fulfilment of his promises on assumption of office to cater to the
welfare of workers, especially in the payment of salaries and promotion
of deserving members of staff.
The governor, who promised to support education, said his administration was committed to the rapid development of the sector.
He also described education as an instrument for integrating a child as a social being.
According to him, the event is set aside
to appreciate teachers who have continued to render selfless services to
the improvement of education in the state.
Mimiko, who said their promotions were in
recognition of their good deeds, urged them to reciprocate the gesture
by contributing effectively to the growth of the state.
He assured that the ongoing recruitment of 1,500 teachers would be completed before the end of January 2015.
He also stated that the training and
promotion of teachers would enable them to rededicate themselves to
their duties with vigour.
