Lagos State Govt. Defends N10,000 CBT Exam Fee

The Lagos State government yesterday debunked the allegation of imposing N10, 000 entrance exam fee on the people of the state in its sale of forms for the screening test for admission of primary six pupils into Model
Colleges/ Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools for the 2015/2016 academic session.HTML5 Icon

It said the practice is not a new development. In a statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of Education and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jide Lawal, the government said unlike the admission forms into model colleges, admission forms into its 348 junior secondary schools are free and attract no other charges. It also added that both the Education Rights Campaign (ERC) and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), which it accused of championing the allegations, were not adequately informed of the modalities and the reasons for the fee.

The statement reads in part; “It is pertinent to point out that the fee cannot, in any way, bring hardship to parents as the screening tests into model colleges/upgraded colleges are for parents who wish to have their children and wards in these colleges that are indeed boarding schools.”
